WASHINGTON- Tonight, Rep. Louise Slaughter reacted to President Obama's State of the Union Address. “Tonight, the President outlined a bold vision worthy of the country that elected him to a second term. I was especially pleased that he mentioned advanced manufacturing jobs, something I’ve worked on for my entire career, and bringing our troops home from Afghanistan so we can focus on nation-building here at home. I also applauded the President’s proposals to stop gun violence in our communities, as well as his commitment to stop violence perpetrated by a growing North Korean threat. Most importantly, the President made it clear that we cannot cut our way to prosperity, and that we must have a balanced approach to reducing our deficit. I’m hopeful about the state of our union, and I’m confident that with this President we can build a brighter future for our children and grandchildren.”
